Walia asks firms for uninterrupted power supply during festivals

New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) Delhi Power Minister A.K. Walia has asked three distribution companies to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity in the capital during Ramadan and the Ramlila celebrations.BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna Power and North Delhi Power Limited were issued instructions during a high-level weekly power review meeting. Walia directed the firms to purchase power in such a way that uninterrupted supply is ensured.

“Any disruption in power supply can affect religious fervour and celebrations. It becomes necessary for the government to act to see for itself that there remains proper lighting during this period,” he said.

He further directed the companies to ensure proper functioning of street lights for avoiding mishappenings as movement of people increases during these days.

Power secretary, CEOs of companies, and senior officers of power department and Delhi Transco Limited were present in the meeting.
