Vote count begins in five Indian states

Bharatiya Janata PartyNew Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS) Counting of the millions of votes polled in staggered elections in five Indian states began Monday morning.The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are the main contenders for power in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. The Congress has taken on the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) in distant Mizoram.

Election Commission officials said that most of the results would be known by noon.
