Villagers lynch two dacoits
July 26th, 2011 - 7:52 pm ICT by IANSGhaziabad, July 26 (IANS) Villagers lynched two members of a dacoit gang in this Uttar Pradesh district while they were trying to flee after committing a robbery, police said Tuesday.
The incident happened Monday midnight in Shamli village under Pilkhuwa police station, said Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ajay Kumar here.
Nine dacoits, armed with pistols, iron rods and knives, barged into Radhe Shyam’s house and looted cash and jewellery. Villagers caught two of them and beat them to death.
While one of the robbers died on the spot, the other succumbed on his way to the hospital, Ajay Kumar said.
Both robbers were named Shahid and both were residents of Meerut, he said. The other dacoits managed to run away.
