Village headman held for helping Maoists
January 28th, 2011 - 1:33 am ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Jan 28 (IANS) A sarpanch (village council chief) in Orissa’s Sundergarh district was arrested Thursday for supplying explosives to Maoists, police said.Srikant Samant of Chandiposh was arrested for supplying explosives to the rebels, Superintendent of Police Diptesh Patnaik told IANS.
Samant was arrested after police discovered a huge catch of explosives including gelatin sticks, detonators and fuse wires from a panchayat building, he said.
Sundergarh is over 500 km from Bhubeneswar.
