Vigilance inquiry against four policemen
March 30th, 2011 - 12:37 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 29 (IANS) An inquiry has been ordered against four policemen in Delhi for illegally detaining and beating up a man inside the lockup at Inderpuri Police Station in west Delhi, police said Tuesday.
“Vigilance inquiry has been ordered against Station House Officer (SHO) Ramesh Chander, Sub-Inspector Datta Ram and Constables Darshan Singh and Sandeep,” said a senior police officer.
Deputy Commissioner of Police A.K. Ojha ordered the inquiry Monday.
Arun Kumar complained that on March 24, while he was passing through Todapur village in Inderpuri area during a fight in the village, Datta Ram forced him to come to the police station saying that SHO wants him.
However, when he reached there, Arun was beaten up and locked up.
All the three - Datta Ram and the two constables - beat up Arun along with his brothers Vijay Singh and Rakesh Singh and 12 year-old-son Jitendra at the insistence of the SHO.
The four were let go only around midnight.
