Vice chancellor’s resignation over paper leak rejected
May 6th, 2010 - 11:28 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, May 6 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Governor B.L. Joshi has rejected Lucknow University Vice Chancellor M.K. Mishra’s resignation offer over the question paper leakage that resulted in the cancellation of the state’s B.Ed entrance exam, officials said Thursday.
Taking moral responsibility for the question paper leakage, Mishra Thursday offered to resign, and stated he was sorry for all that had happened, particularly for the problems faced by lakhs of candidates and their parents.
However, rejecting the resignation offer, Joshi not only asked Mishra to continue as the vice chancellor of the university, but also praised him for his administrative and academic reforms.
Four people have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district for their alleged involvement in leaking the question paper for the state’s B.Ed entrance test that was cancelled just hours before it was to begin Wednesday morning, officials said. The test will now take place June 19.
The university was scheduled to conduct the test for around 100,000 seats in different universities and colleges of the state. Around 700,000 students were to appear in the exam.
