Venkys to sponsor Mumbai Fighters
November 11th, 2011 - 7:46 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Nov 11 (IANS) After buying out English Premier Legue (EPL) side Blackburn Rovers, poultry major Venkys has forayed into boxing as the sponsor of Mumbai Fighters team at the World Series of Boxing (WSB).
“Venkys is delighted to partner with the Mumbai Fighters and the young Indian boxers as they set out on their journey to success at the World Series Boxing and the Olympics. We are hopeful that individually the boxers add to the Indian representation at the Olympics,” said Venky’s chairperson Anuradha Desai.
Udit Sheth, Team Principal of Mumbai Fighters, lauded Venkys for their support.
“Venkys have long been associated with sport and with them coming on board we are sure that the Fighters brand would create the necessary buzz from a marketing perspective,” he said.
Leading apparel maker, Provogue will also be sponsoring the team. Provogue would also be dressing up the boxers.
“We are very excited at the prospect of associating Provogue with the Mumbai Fighters. Globally we have observed that boxing is entertaining, fun and has the glamour. Hence, as a brand we see it as a worthy association,” said Salil Chaturvedi, Deputy Managing Director, Provogue India.
