New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) Delhi Police will now keep an eye on vehicles bearing VIP emblems and number plates with red and blue stripes in the capital to check their misuse.
Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal Thursday asked the traffic police to keep an eye on all private vehicles with VIP emblems and red and blue stripes on number plates.

“Many vehicles bearing VIP symbol are seen plying in the capital. The commissioner has asked policemen to check these vehicles to ensure that no one is misusing it,” a senior police officer said.

This comes just two days after four people were arrested for allegedly murdering TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan and IT executive Jigisha Ghosh. They were using a car with a red-and-blue Delhi Police sticker.

“The four arrested in the two murder cases were trying to mislead public by giving an impression that the vehicle belongs to a policeman,” the officer said.
