Lucknow, Dec 8 (IANS) A meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district Wednesday, to be addressed by party MP Varun Gandhi, has been denied permission by the local police.
Varun was to address the party workers at the Shikarpur area in Bulandshahr district, some 400 km from Lucknow.
“We have denied permission for the BJP meeting on grounds of law and order,” Senior Superintendent of Police Nilesh Kumar told IANS on telephone.
“Actually, a few days ago there was a dispute between activists of BJP and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), following which the two group clashed leading to tension in the district. Taking this into account, we have, therefore, denied permission for tomorrow’s (Wednesday) meeting,” he added.
