Mumbai, Oct 13 (IANS) Vani Kapoor emerged a winner even in tough conditions after some heavy showers on the final day of the Usha Western India Ladies Open at the Bombay Presidency Golf Course Thursday.

Vani, who has been having a great season, reserved her best for the final as she carded her best for the week with a 73 and won both category A, the combined and the gold division.

Vani (226) was two shots ahead of Gursimar Badwal (228) in the gold division, but she was a winner by eight shots over Mehar Atwal (74) and Gurbani Singh (76) in category A. In the combined category, she was again followed by Mehar and Gurbani. Raksha Phadke (81) was fourth in category A with a total of 238.

Aditi Ashok won the B category with a final round of 80 and a total of 237. Aditi was followed by Vidushi Sinha (79) and a total of 239.

Aditi also finished fourth in combined placings for category A and B, with Raksha fifth.

Amrita Anand claimed the prize in category C with Suchitra Ramesh second.

Inspite of thunder and lightning with heavy showers for more than two hours, the BPGC played very true and there were hardly any issues of plugged balls in the rough.
