Valencia confirm Silva needs ankle injurySeptember 13th, 2008 - 2:51 pm ICT by IANS
Madrid, Sep 13 (Xinhua) Valencia football club vice president Fernando Gomez has confirmed that Spain international midfielder David Silva will need an operation on his injured ankle.Silva damaged his already weak left ankle while training with the Spain squad 10 days ago and withdrew from the squad for further tests in Valencia.
Hoping to avoid the need for an operation, the club preferred to take a “wait and see” attitude with the player and last week confirmed that they would make a final decision within a fortnight after seeing how Silva reacted to rest and treatment.
That has not had any effect and Gomez confirmed on the club website that he would undergo surgery in Barcelona.
The operation will take place in Barcelona Tuesday and Silva will be out of action for at least three months.
