Ghaziabad, June 5 (IANS) A day after a Dalit businessman was murdered by his wife’s lover and friends, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh visited the scene of the crime and delivered a cheque of Rs.150,000 to the family of the victim.
“I am here to execute the new directives of the state chief minister that the director general of police will personally visit the spot to show the state’s concern for the death of any Dalit in the state. A cheque is being presented to the family members of the deceased,” DGP Vikram Singh told reporters.

Rajesh Kumar Tomar, 40, who used to run a laundry service, was found murdered Thursday morning in Ator Nangla locality under Sihani Gate police station area, police said.

Police have alleged that Tomar’s wife Munesh, 35, had illicit relations with Chaman, 23, who was a regular visitor to their house for the last few years. Chaman had also recorded a sexually explicit video of himself with Munesh, a clipping of which was stored on his mobile phone, police said.

Chaman’s friends Narendra and Shri Pal had also developed illicit relations with Munesh and they murdered Tomar as he had objections to their relationship with his wife. They first gave him poison and then strangled him, police added.

“When we interrogated Munesh, she confessed that her lover and his friends killed her husband and she also conspired with them. On her tip, we picked up the accused and their confessional statements matched with each one and we solved the case within six hours,” said Rajesh Dwivedi, inspector in charge of Sihani Gate police station.

“We have arrested Chaman, Narendra and Sri Pal. Munesh has also been arrested for conspiring to kill her husband,” Dwivedi added.
