New Delhi, Feb 9 (IANS) The investigation done by the Noida police into the 2008 murder of teenager Aarushi Talwar and her family’s domestic help Hemraj was very professional and based on evidence, former Uttar Pradesh police chief Vikram Singh said Wednesday. “I would just reiterate that our investigation was very professional. It was malice towards none and due emphasis was on evidence and evaluation,” said Vikram Singh, who was the state police chief when the murders were discovered in the Talwar’s Jal Vayu Vihar apartment in Noida May 16, 2008.
The Uttar Pradesh Police had accused Aarushi’s father Rajesh Talwar of the twin murders. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had taken over the probe May 31 2008. A week before that the police had arrested Rajesh Talwar but was freed July 11 after the CBI failed to find any evidence against him.
A CBI court in Ghaziabad Wednesday ordered that Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur Talwar be tried for Aarushi’s murder. The couple will also be prosecuted for destruction of evidence.
The court order came after it rejected the CBI’s plea for closing the case. The CBI said Rajesh Talwar was the prime suspect but there was not enough evidence against him.
