US-based firm inks deal with Solarsis
March 23rd, 2011 - 9:58 pm ICT by IANSHyderabad, March 23 (IANS) Abound Solar, a US-based leading manufacturer of cadmium telluride thin-film photovoltaic solar modules, Wednesday announced a long-term sales agreement with city-based firm Solarsis.
The companies will work together to provide solutions based on Abound’s next-generation thin-film modules serving project developers in the Indian market.
Solarsis will also establish a test facility to optimize balance of system (BoS) designs around Abound Solar’s modules that will lower total system costs for customers. The first project under this agreement will be a 1-megawatt ground-mount array in Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
Julian Hawkins, senior vice president of sales & marketing for Abound olar, told reporters here that Colorado-based firm recently closed on a $400-million loan guarantee from the US Department of Energy (DOE) to fund the expansion of the company’s manufacturing capacity and help cater to the demand for its products in emerging markets such as India.
Solarsis is a leading solar system integrator in India and has over 150 years of combined management experience.
“Abound Solar’s thin-film modules are ideally suited for environmental conditions found across India: high temperatures and diffuse light conditions. The combination of thin-film technology and high performance in a low-cost module and our experience in integrating BoS components allow us to deliver strong financial returns to our customers,” said Venkat Rajaraman, CEO of Solarsis.
