Mitibai also attempted suicide late Monday in Bagmohlai village, about 280 km from here.
“Motibai had a dispute with her husband Ishwar Mandawi and in a fit of anger she stabbed to death her seven-month-old girl, Durgeshwari, and five-year-old daughter, Gaytri,” Superintendent of Police P. Sundaraj told IANS.
Durgeshwari and Gaytri died on the spot.
Motibai’s four-year-old daughter, Sushila, and eight-year-old son, Kartik, managed to escape. Sushila is battling for life at a government hospital while Kartik is out of danger.
All the kids received wounds around their necks.
Motibai’s neighbour said she clashed with her husband Monday night and threatened to kill her children. Police suspect that Motibai has some mental problems.
