UP cops told to bring legislator to Delhi court Feb 9
January 27th, 2012 - 9:57 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 27 (IANS) A Delhi Court Friday told the Uttar Pradesh Police to present before it legislator Mukhtar Ansari for trial in a criminal case Feb 9.
Ansari, along with alleged gangster Munna Bajrangi and his associates Miraz Ahmed and Iftikar Ahmad, is facing a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Ansari, currently lodged in an Agra jail, was to be produced in the court Friday for allegedly running a crime syndicate for contract killings and extortion.
The Uttar Pradesh Police, however, told the court that he could not be presented as the police personnel were engaged in assembly election duties.
