Unicef to set up children’s information hub in Lucknow
August 29th, 2009 - 11:13 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Aug 29 (IANS) Unicef proposes to set up an information hub here with data relating to children’s issues to serve as a convergence platform for the state government, development agencies and the media.
The idea was mooted at meet organized jointly by Unicef and Media Nest, a body of professional journalists engaged in development and social issues.
Unicef communication specialist Augustine Veliath told the gathering that the organisation will work out the details before Novemeber 2009, when the body observes the 20th anniversary of the passage of the Rights of Children charter.
Earlier at the meet, Unicef’s Rachna Sharma made an audio visual presentation on how socially relevant issues have been weaved into a Unicef-led entertainment education serial “Kyunki Jeena Issi Ka Naam Hai” on Doordarshan.
The serial has completed 200 episodes on air and promotes life-enhancing, life-saving messages critical to the welfare and survival of children and mother, she said.
