Chandigarh, May 27 (IANS) Three Himachal Pradesh policemen were booked here Wednesday after an undertrial detainee gave them a slip on their return from a Delhi court.
The undertrial, Sanjay, accused in a theft case, escaped from the custody of three policemen after he gave them poisonous substance to eat at a bus depot here, Anokh Singh, station house officer of Sector 36 police station, told IANS.

Singh said the three policemen - head constables Shanti Swaroop, Nal Krishan and Kamaldeep - were admitted in a hospital here in an unconscious state.

A case has been registered against the policemen for being negligent.

“They were returning after producing the accused in a Delhi court and had to produce him in a Himachal Pradesh court in a theft case,” stated Singh.
