ULFA rebel arrested in Meghalaya
July 13th, 2011 - 1:12 am ICT by IANSShillong, July 12 (IANS) A rebel of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom has been arrested as he tried to sneak into India from Bangladesh, an official said Tuesday.
“Kushal Rabha of ULFA’s 28th battalion was arrested late last night from Kachhuwadogri in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district bordering Bangladesh,” Border Security Forces spokesman Ravi Gandhi said.
Meghalaya shares a 443-km border with Bangladesh, part of which is porous, hilly and unfenced and prone to frequent infiltration.
During the preliminary questioning, Rabha revealed that he was staying in Nokchi area in Bangladesh’s Mymensing district.
Rabha has been handed over to Meghalaya Police.
