Mumbai, Aug 16 (IANS) Strongly condemning Anna Hazare’s arrest, the Shiv Sena Tuesday urged the opposition parties to dislodge the central government.
Speaking to mediapersons here Tuesday evening, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray blasted the centre for creating an “emergency-like” situation in the country.
“If the government behaves as if there is an emergency-like situation, then it has no right to continue. All the opposition parties must unite and bring down this (central) government,” a grim Thackeray said.
When asked what measures the party would initiate to bring down the government, Thackeray said that it would abide by the “directives” of party chief Bal Thackeray.
He added that after preventing Hazare from going ahead with his agitation for a strong Lokpal Bill, the government has even “lost” the right to invoke the name of Mahatma Gandhi.
Expressing support to Hazare, Thackeray pointed out that even the last time when he had launched the Lokpal bill agitation, the Shiv Sena was among the first to support him.
“The Sena is very much against corruption and is part of the war against corruption,” he said.
