UAE to observe Hepatitis Awareness Day July 28
July 22nd, 2011 - 12:08 am ICT by IANSDubai, July 21 (IANS/WAM) The UAE will observe Hepatitis Awareness Day July 28 as part of the World Health Organisation’s efforts to eradicate the disease, an official said Thursday.
Mahmood Fikri, assistant undersecretary at the health ministry, said a number of preventive measures against the disease are being readied, including vaccinations and lab tests.
According to WHO, about 170 million people worldwide suffer from hepatitis B and C. Some 1.5 million people die annually due to the disease.
