Islamabad, Oct 20 (IANS) The UAE will back Pakistan’s candidature for a non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council, the UAE’s envoy here has said.
UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Essa Abdulla Al Basha Al Nuaimi conveyed this to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani during his meeting with him at the PM’s residence here Wednesday, the official APP news agency reported.
Gilani expressed gratitude for UAE’s support and said the two nations shared a common history, culture and religion for hundreds of years.
He said Pakistan was looking forward to become a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council and become partners in promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

People of Pakistan are grateful for UAE’s continuous support in the rehabilitation of the flood victims, he said.
The province has been hit by a devastating flood since mid-August due to the incessant rain. Thousands of people have been displaced.
