Two top police officers killed in Mumbai terror attacks
November 27th, 2008 - 3:14 am ICT by IANSMumbai, Nov 27 (IANS) Two top police officials were killed while the chief of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) was grievously injured as security forces took on terrorists in Mumbai following terror attacks late Wednesday night.Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte and Mumbai Police “encounter specialist” Vijay Salaskar were killed in gun battles following series of attacks in India’s financial capital, police officials said.
Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare, who is heading investigations into several recent cases of terrorist attacks here, was also seriously injured in a gun battle, they said.
