January 13th, 2011 - 3:20 pm ICT by IANSAgra, Jan 13 (IANS) Two Tamil Nadu businessmen remain untraced 10 days after they were suspected to have been abducted from a guesthouse in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, but police are now zeroing in on areas near Agra as the place of captivity. The two traders, Senthil Kumar, 28, and his agent Karunanidhi had come to Gwalior for a deal in groundnuts after a phone call from truck driver Vijay Yadav who made arrangements for their stay at a guesthouse, police say.
Next day Vijay took them to Dholpur from where they have been missing since Jan 4. Gwalior police believed Vijay, who hails from Gujarat, had handed over the two to some gang operating in the region.
Police teams from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh combing the Yamuna-Chambal ravines in Dholpur, Morena, Gwalior have so far drawn a blank and remain clueless about the two missing men.
Police sources feel the two could be in the custody of the Mukesh Thakur gang. Earlier, it was believed Rajendra Gujjar gang was involved.
A ransom of Rs.1 crore was demanded from their families on the phone, police say. Later, the demand was scaled down to Rs.75 lakh.
Senthil from Kaatumannarkoil has been a wholesaler dealing in groundnuts for the past 10 years. Karunanidhi is from Rajamannargudi, and knows Hindi.
