Two policemen wounded in gun battle with Maoists
October 4th, 2009 - 8:33 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ranchi, Oct 4 (IANS) Two policemen were wounded in a two-hour gun battle with Maoist rebels in Jharkhand, police said Sunday.
The gun battle took place in jungles of Bundu block, 45 km from here, when a search team was ambushed by the rebels, according to police officials here.
The injured personnel have been airlifted and admitted to Apollo Hospital in Ranchi. The condition of both constables is said to be serious.
Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the state’s 24 districts. At least 1,550 people have been killed in Maoist violence in the last eight years.
