Two policemen injured in gunfight with Maoists

Ranchi, March 14 (IANS) Two policemen were injured in gun battle with Maoist guerrillas in Jharkhand’s Khuti district Monday, police said.

“Two policemen were injured in gun battle with Maoists in Jojobera and Barulata jungle of Khuti,” Ranchi Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sampat Meena told reporters.

An improvised explosive device and other materials were recovered from the spot, she added.

The gunfight was sparked off when security forces, surrounding the jungle area on a tip-off about presence of rebels there, came under fire and retaliated.
