Two policemen booked for rape in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, June 4 (IANS) Two policemen booked for raping a 23-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district are on the run, police said Thursday.
On the pretext of arranging a meeting with her husband lodged in the district jail, the two constables called up the victim.

When the woman arrived at the jail, the policemen allegedly took her to a secluded place in Addalpur locality and raped her May 29. Pratapgarh is located about 150 km from here.

A case was registered late Wednesday on a complaint by the woman’s relatives, Deputy Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Mukherjee told IANS.

The two constables have been booked under sections 376 (rape), 505 (insult intended to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
