September 28th, 2011 - 1:41 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Sep 28 (IANS) Two constables on night patrol were killed by unidentified assailants in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district, police said Wednesday.
The two constables - Krishna Kumar and Ramveer Singh - were brutally assaulted and later shot late Tuesday in an area under the Naujheel Police station.
“The service rifles of both the constables are missing. Injuries on their bodies indicate the cops were initially attacked with some blunt objects and later shot dead,” police inspector Lekhraj Singh told reporters in Mathura, some 350 km from Lucknow.
“We are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the killings. Both the constables were attached with the Naujheel police station,” he added.
