Two Nigerians held with heroin
September 27th, 2011 - 12:34 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 26 (IANS) Two Nigerians, including a management graduate, were arrested with heroin worth around Rs.1.2 crore that they were trying to send back to their country, police said Monday.
Richard Nwafor, 38, the management graduate, and Chris Chinonye, 32, were arrested from Gole Dakhana in central Delhi Saturday while they were booking a parcel to Nigeria, police said.
They had hidden heroin, wrapped in polythene packets, in the seats of bicycles they were sending through the parcel service, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Chand said.
Nwafor came to Delhi in June. Once a garment exporter, he had incurred a huge loss in 2009 and came to India on the suggestion of his friend, Ikonne Livinus.
Livinus gave Nwafor a consignment of heroin for sending it to Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Chinonye came to Mumbai in 2008. He used to export garments from India to Nigeria but started trafficking heroin in 2009.
Earlier, Chinonye had sent heroin to Nigeria hiding it in women’s handbags.
