Two Nigerians held with five kg heroin in Punjab

Amritsar, Feb 1 (IANS) Two Nigerian nationals were arrested in Punjab’s Amritsar district Sunday in possession of five kg heroin, the police said.The Nigerians, Beleth and Emiko, were arrested following a trap laid by the Amritsar police near Rayya town, 40 km from here, on the Amritsar-Jalandhar national highway.

When police officials confronted them, the duo tried to flee but were nabbed. A search of their bag led to the recovery of the drugs consignment.

The consignment is worth Rs.50 million in the international market.

Police officials said that one of the Nigerians was living in Mohali town near Chandigarh and was pursuing a computer course. The second Nigerian national had come to India on a visitor visa.
