New Delhi, June 3 (IANS) Three people, including two Nigerians, have been arrested for cheating people by sending them fake messages and e-mails stating that they have won prizes from multinational companies, police said Friday.

The accused have been identified as Samual Onyeka, 30, Nnabugo Williams, 35 — both Nigerians, and Mohommad Sameer Khan, 28.

Police have recovered a laptop, pen drive, two mobile phones, passbook and a cheque book from their possession.

The two Nigerians were arrested May 26 from Mehrauli area of south Delhi while Khan was apprehended May 28.

“The accused used to send alluring messages to several e-mail IDs. When people used to reply, they used to ask for a token amount initially. Once people used to deposit the amount in their accounts, they used to ask for more money and cheat them,” a police officer said.

Onyeka, a graduate, came to India on a business visa in March 2011 while Williams, who is into garment business, came to India in October 2010.

Khan does embroidery work at Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, and often visits Delhi in this connection.
