Two Nepali women held with drugs
December 14th, 2010 - 11:31 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Dec 14 (IANS) Two Nepali women were arrested Tuesday and cannabis worth around Rs.20 lakh seized in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj Tuesday, police said.The two women, both aged around 35 years, were nabbed from the Toothibari town near the India-Nepal border in a joint operation by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and state police.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman worked for a Nepal-based racket involved in supplying illegal drugs,” police inspector B.K. Singh told reporters in Maharajganj, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“The women were being primarily assigned the task of supplying drugs in Bihar, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
According to police, the women were involved in the illegal trade for the last four-five years.
