January 27th, 2012 - 2:44 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Jan 27 (IANS) Two more directors of AMRI Hospital, who are also renowned doctors, were Friday arrested in connection with the fire that killed 94 patients and staffers last month.
Mani Chhetri, medical director of the high-cost health facility in South Kolkata’s Dhakuria, and another director Pranab Dasgupta were picked up from their respective residences, police said.
The licence of the hospital was taken in the name of Chhetri, a veteran general physician. Dasgupta is a leading gynaecologist.
Seven directors and four of the management staff are already behind bars following the country’s worst-ever fire tragedy in a hospital.
All the directors, except R.S. Agarwal, are currently lodged in Alipore Correctional Home. Agarwal continues to be admitted to the state-run SSKM hospital following ill health since his arrest Dec 9 — the day of the incident.
