- Patna, Oct 14 (IANS) In another case of street justice in Bihar, two suspected criminals were beaten to death and one was badly injured by a mob Wednesday as the men tried to escape after shooting at a businessman, police said.
Two criminals, in their mid 20s, were lynched at Dharamdaspur village of Vaishali district, about 40 km from here.
“The two criminals were lynched by an angry mob of people and one was seriously injured in the incident,” a police official said.
According to police, the three men shot at a businessman and looted Rs.2 lakh from him.
“After the shooting, they were trying to escape, but the villagers caught them,” the official said.
The businessman was admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
In rural areas of Bihar, cases of mob lynching are becoming increasingly common.
An irate mob lynched a train robber and left three others seriously injured near Pirpainti railway station in Bhagalpur district Tuesday when the men tried to escape after looting passengers of Malda-Bhagalpur Intercity Express.
Over 70 such cases have been reported in the state over the last four months.
