Two Maoists killed in Orissa gunfight
January 12th, 2011 - 4:08 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Jan 12 (IANS) Two Maoists were killed Wednesday in Orissa’s mineral rich Keonjhar district during a gunfight with police, an official said.Based on a tip-off, police raided the rebel camps in Balipadar reserve forest area, about 150 km from here. Police retaliated when the rebels opened fire at them, Superintendent of Police A.K. Singh told IANS.
Two rebels died on the spot during the exchange of fire that lasted for about half an hour, he said.
Police recovered some arms and ammunition from the site after the other rebels fled from the area, he added.
