October 5th, 2011 - 11:08 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 5 (IANS) Two Maoist guerrillas, who provided logistical support to new recruits in rebel training camps across India, have been arrested in the capital, police said Wednesday.
The two members of the outlawed People Liberation Army (PLA), identified as Arun, 30, and Dilip, 40, were arrested from south Delhi’s Lodhi Colony Monday night. They were Tuesday presented in a court which sent them to 10 days’ police custody.
Dilip is from Manipur. Arun runs a travel agency in Pune, police said.
“The two, who had visited Delhi earlier, came to the city Sep 28 to meet their associates. Their plan was to go to Myanmar for arms training,” said an official.
Police seized two laptops and incriminating documents from their possession. According to police, the two Maoists were also looking for new recruits in the capital.
The PLA is a proscribed militant outfit active in Orissa, Jharkhand and other Maoist- affected states.
Another suspected Maoist conduit, Soni Sori, accused of receiving “protection money” from the Essar group on behalf of the rebels, was arrested in the capital Tuesday.
Sori, a tribal teacher, was arrested by Chhattisgarh Police from south Delhi’s Katwaria Sarai area. She has been sent to judicial custody till Oct 7.
