Two Maoists escape during gun battle
October 19th, 2011 - 12:32 am ICT by IANSKolkata, Oct 18 (IANS) Two Maoist leaders escaped during a police raid that triggered a gun battle in jungles of Bankisole and Aulgeria at Jhargram in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district Tuesday, police said. One rebel was arrested.
Security forces deployed in the area raided the jungles on a tip off but were attacked by the Maoists, triggering an exchange of fire, a police official said.
“Maoist leaders Akash and Jayanta were at the spot, as per our information. But we could not find them,” he said.
