Meerut, July 10 (IANS) A Hindu boy and a Muslim girl in love were killed by the girl’s family Friday when their relationship came to light and their bodies were thrown into a canal here, police said.
The incident occurred Friday in Kina Nagar locality under Bhawanpur police station of Meerut.

Manoj, 20, was in love with a Muslim girl Afsana. Manoj went to meet the girl at her house and while they were talking, the girl’s family members and her parents, in a fit of rage, hacked them to death and threw their bodies into the canal nearby, police said.

When the family members of the boy came to know about the incident, they informed the police who recovered the bodies from the canal.

Manoj’s father Om Pal Singh lodged a complaint with the police.

“A man from the girl’s family has been arrested and we are trying to arrest his accomplices. The murder weapon has also been recovered,” said the Deputy Inspector General of Police M.K. Bashal.
