Two labourers killed after roof collapse
February 10th, 2010 - 8:02 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ludhiana, Feb 10 (IANS) Two labourers were killed after the roof of an old structure they were demolishing collapsed in this Punjab district Wednesday, police said.
Ram Karan, 26, a native of Uttar Pradesh, and Parveen Kumar, 25, resident of Bihar, died after the roof of a room in the GGN Institute of Management and Technology here collapsed.
“Demolition and construction work was simultaneously on in the institute. These workers were engaged in the demolition of a wall when the roof collapsed,” a police officer said.
“From the preliminary investigation, it looks like an accident but we are still investigating into the incident,” the officer said.
Ludhiana, the industrial hub of Punjab, is around 100 km from state capital Chandigarh.
