Two killed in road accident
January 30th, 2011 - 12:42 am ICT by IANSGhaziabad, Jan 29 (IANS) Two people were killed and over a dozen injured when a vehicle, carrying about 20 passengers, collided head-on with a gas tanker in Ghaziabad area Saturday afternoon, police said. Noor Jahan, 32, and Ankur Kumar, a junior engineer, were killed.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) M.M. Begh said the vehicle was going from Dhaulana to Gulaothi and the driver was driving in the wrong carriageway.
Agitated locals gathered on the Dhaulana-Gulaothi Road and blocked it. When police arrived, they pelted stones on them.
The Hapur sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) convinced the protesters to withdraw their agitation. The SDM also announced relief for the victims.
