Two killed in Lucknow factory fire
February 24th, 2011 - 12:31 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Feb 24 (IANS) At least two labourers were killed and nine injured after a massive fire broke out in a plywood factory here Thursday, police said.The fire engulfed the Kiran Plywood Factory in an industrial area of Talkatora locality.
“While a labourer died on the spot, another succumbed to his injuries while being treated at a hospital,” police inspector K.N. Singh told reporters here.
“Nine labourers are being treated at a hospital and the condition of two is stated to be serious,” he said.
Chief Fire Officer Rajendra Tiwari said: “The fire broke out early Thursday, following which seven fire tenders were pressed into service. The situation is now under control.”
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire erupted after an explosion in one of the boilers in the factory,” he added.
Police are yet to trace the factory’s owner.
