Two killed in hit-and-run accidents in Delhi

New Delhi, July 7 (IANS) In yet another hit and run case, a speeding vehicle Monday mowed a 32-year-old rickshaw puller sleeping on pavement in east Delhi, the police said. Ram Prasad, who hailed from Badayun in Uttar Pradesh, was crushed to death in Shakarpur area around 5.30 a.m Monday.

The police said a case of rash and negligent driving has been registered and search was on to nab the driver.

In a separate incident, a speeding mini-truck knocked down a 40-year-old Delhi Police constable in northwest Delhi late Sunday.

Vinod Kumar was hit near Burari ground as he disembarked from a Delhi Transport Corporation bus. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police said no arrests have been made as the driver of the mini-truck fled after the accident.
