Two killed in Himachal cloudburst (Lead)
August 7th, 2009 - 7:09 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Aug 7 (IANS) Two members of a family, including a child, were killed in a cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh, an official said Friday.
“Two members of a family, including a child, were killed in a cloudburst near Dharmpur town in Mandi district last (Thursday) night,” Deputy Commissioner Onkar Sharma told IANS on phone.
He said that six houses were damaged and there was loss of livestock also.
“The administration has provided relief material to the affected villagers,” he said.
A cloudburst had occurred at the same spot Wednesday night but there was no loss of life, the official said.
Flash floods triggered by cloudbursts are common during the monsoon season in Himachal Pradesh.
