Two killed as neighbours’ spat turns violent

New Delhi, Feb 12 (IANS) An argument between neighbours in west Delhi over a comment made on the elopment of a girl turned violent, leaving with two of a family killed and three injured, police said Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Narender, 38, and Kuldeep, 22, while the injured were identified as Jainath, Pappu and Vinita. All were members of one family living in Mahender Park area.

The incident occurred late Saturday night, police said.

The trouble started when one of Jainath’s neighbours passed a comment on his daughter’s recent elopement, leading to a heated argument. The spat snowballed as family members on both sides joined in.

Suddenly, three of Jainath’s neighbours, identified as Anil, Sunil and Ajay (all brothers), attacked them with knives, killing two and injuring him and two others.

“A case as per the statement of the victim’s family has been registered and probe into the incident is on. No arrest is made so far,” said a senior police officer.
