Two jump to death off burning building
November 12th, 2011 - 12:29 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS) Two people were killed and one injured when they jumped off a burning five-storey commercial building in central Delhi, police said Friday.
According to police, Robin, Debu Sas and Sanjeev jumped off the fifth floor of the building in Karol Bagh when a fire broke out on second floor, engulfing the entire structure.
“While Sas and Robin succumbed to injuries, Sanjeev fractured a leg. He managed to land on another terrace after he jumped,” said a police officer.
The incident was reported at 11.52 p.m. Thursday in a building housing various private offices.
Besides, six other people sustained minor injuries in the accident. They worked in a jewellery shop and were sleeping when the incident took place, police said.
“Three fire tenders were pressed into service and doused the fire in 30 minutes,” said a fire brigade officer.
The cause of the fire is not known yet, said police.
