Two jewellers shot dead, traders on rampage in Faizabad
August 3rd, 2011 - 1:10 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Aug 3 (IANS) After two jeweller brothers were killed Wednesday morning in an Uttar Pradesh town, traders went on rampage, staging angry demonstrations and demanding early arrest of the assailants, police said.
Rajesh and Rakesh Jaiswal were shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne attackers when they were on their morning walk in Gosainganj area of Faizabad, 130 km from here, said police inspector Rajesh Tripathi.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the two brothers were shot dead from a close range,” he told reporters in Faizabad.
Traders in the town carried out violent demonstrations, blocking roads, targeting several vehicles and fighting pitched battles with the police. They torched a state transport corporation bus and damaged public property.
“While we have managed to disperse the protesters, the situation is still tense,” Tripathi said.
