Two injured as half demolished building collapses
December 17th, 2009 - 6:54 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Bhubaneswar, Dec 17 (IANS) At least two people were injured when a half demolished building collapsed here Thursday, police said.
The local civic authorities had partially demolished the structure Wednesday as it was deemed to be old and not safe. The remaining part was supposed to be demolished Thursday.
However, the building collapsed as some people were searching for valuables in the ruins, an eyewitness said.
Police and relief officials have rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations after reports that there could be some more people buried under the debris.
“Two people were rescued. Search operation is on,” Deputy Commissioner of Police H. Lal told IANS.
