Chennai, Nov 12 (IANS) Two law students were seriously injured following a clash between two groups at the Madras High Court campus here Wednesday evening, police said.”The clash apparently occurred after groups of students disagreed over the contents of invitation cards printed for a political event. Police pickets have been posted at the site to prevent further clashes. The situation is under control,” a police official said.

Returning after an examination, the groups set upon each other with clubs as a motley bunch of police personnel watched helplessly, witnesses said.

“One student swooned at the gates of the campus after being repeatedly beaten by several attackers. He was bleeding profusely and was finally taken to hospital. The outnumbered policemen were mere spectators,” said N. Gandhimathinathan, an office-goer who was witness to the clashes.

The Madras High Court is situated in the heart of the city, five km from the city police headquarters.
