Two held with explosives in Uttar Pradesh
June 5th, 2010 - 4:52 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, June 5 (IANS) Two people were arrested Saturday with a huge cache of explosives in Maoist-infested Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh, police said.
Suryabhan and Satyendra, both in their early 40s and residents of Mau district, were nabbed with around 16 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, detonators and gelatin rods in the Obra area, some 300 km from Lucknow, police said.
“We cannot rule out the possibility of the duo’s involvement in supplying explosives to Maoists,” Inspector R.M. Rai told reporters in Sonbhadra.
“Preliminary investigations reveal, the two brought the illegal consignment of the explosives from Maharashtra,” he added.
