Two held with 6 kg of heroin in Punjab
April 17th, 2010 - 9:22 pm ICT by IANSAmritsar (Punjab), April 17 (IANS) Two people were arrested with six kg of heroin near the international border in this Punjab district, police said Saturday.
According to police, an AK-47, live cartridges and magazines were also seized from them.
The accused were identified as Satnam Singh and Harjinder Singh, residents of Ramdas village.
“Acting on a tip-off, we laid a trap when the accused were coming to handover the contraband. They had smuggled the drugs from Pakistan a few days back,” said Manminder Singh, superintendent of police.
“They have links with many smugglers in Pakistan,” he added.
Amritsar is around 250 km from the state capital Chandigarh.
